Leeds United travel to Stoke City on Saturday in the Championship and if they have it their way they may have a new goalkeeper in-between the sticks.

According to the Daily Star, the Whites are looking to wrap up a deal for Southampton’s Fraser Forster this week.

It is understood that the 30-year-old may be allowed to leave the Premier League club after falling down the pecking order and the Yorkshire giants are ready to swoop.

The report details that Leeds want to bring in the shot-stopper to compete with Bailey Peacock-Farrell and want the deal wrapped up ahead of the league fixture against Stoke at the weekend.

Meanwhile, the Yorkshire Evening Post reports that Real Madrid goalkeeper Kiko Casilla is set to fly in for a medical this week and may be in line to feature against Stoke if he joins.

Peacock-Farrell is surely in the firing line to be dropped after some inconsistent displays at Elland Road this season, despite the fact his side are top of the Championship table.

The 22-year-old may begin his exile from the starting XI against Stoke if Forster or Casilla arrive and is likely to return to the bench.

Peacock-Farrell is a highly-rated talent that has shown in glimpses he’s got a massive future ahead of him.

But a few weakness in his game have cost Marcelo Bielsa’s team at times and the team needs solidity at the back during the promotion run-in.

Forster is a six-time capped England international and should provide a much-needed safe pair of hands at Elland Road.

The 30-year-old certainly still has Premier League qualities and it would be a surprise if he doesn’t push Peacock-Farrell aside, but his experience should rub off on the youngster.

Meanwhile, if Casilla is to be the new number one at Leeds then the goalkeeper with Champions League experience will be expected to take the Championship by storm.

Bielsa’s team are being heavily linked with adding a new goalkeeper and either of the two mentioned would be a significant upgrade.
