Wales face the Republic of Ireland in UEFA Nations League action this evening. However, they will have to do so without their star player. Gareth Bale is out of the game because of muscle spasm and Wales will, therefore, be relying on others to provide the spark necessary.
One player who has been backed to step up in his absence is Bournemouth attacker David Brooks. Tottenham Hotspur left-back Ben Davies has told the press of his belief in the 21-year-old.
“Gareth is a massive loss for any team and we’ll have to adapt.
“He (Brooks) is a top player. He has a lot of ability and talent that defenders just don’t want to come up against. We’ll have a good attacking threat in him against Ireland.”
So with the backing of a Spurs player to step into the shoes of a recent Spurs legend, should Tottenham be keeping tabs on the player?
Brooks joined Bournemouth for a reported fee of £11.5 million in the summer, according to the Bournemouth Echo. He has since looked every bit the part in the Cherries exciting start to the Premier League season. With two goals in his last two games for the club, he is certainly starting to settle in at the Vitality Stadium.

Prior to his Bournemouth move, he was heavily linked with Spurs. The Sun suggested Tottenham wanted to turn him into ‘the next Harry Kane.’ So it would appear the youngster is already on the Tottenham radar.
Whether turning him into the next Kane or the next Bale, either would be welcomed by the Tottenham fanbase.
Brooks might just be a future Spurs transfer target if he can continue to showcase his ability.
