Newcastle United defender Florian Lejeune has confirmed he is back with the first-team.
Lejeune has been out since last April when he suffered an ACL injury against Crystal Palace. This was the second ACL injury in quick succession for the unfortunate Frenchman.
He has been working hard with his rehabilitation (in Rome and then back in Newcastle). And in the past two weeks, he has got minutes under his belt for the U23 team.

Lejeune is stepping up his recovery and has now confirmed that he is one step closer to his first-team return. He has told fans that he has played his final game for the U23s before moving to the first-team on a permanent basis.
On Twitter, Lejeune said: “Yesterday was the last time I played for the reserves before coming back with the group. Thank you to all my teammates, can’t wait to be back #readynow”.
TBR’s view
Lejeune’s return will be a major boost for Steve Bruce, especially with Fabian Schar currently out. The Frenchman has the task of replacing Jamaal Lascelles, Ciaran Clark and Federico Fernandez to break into the back-three.
When all of the defenders are fully fit, Lejeune will probably be eyeing a starting spot. The 28-year-old’s next challenge is to convince Bruce he is fit enough to get first-team minutes again.
