Miguel Azeez has taken to Instagram to comment on returning to training with Arsenal, with Alexandre Lacazette amongst those to reply to the midfielder’s post.
Azeez, of course, was one Gunners player who was on the move during the January transfer window. However, his move saw him recalled from Portsmouth after a frustrating loan spell.

It appeared to be a smart move to let the 19-year-old join Pompey. Danny Cowley’s men are a huge club at League One level. And he needed to take that next step after looking extremely impressive for the under-23s.
Unfortunately, he struggled to earn many opportunities. So it was no surprise that he was recalled by Arsenal ahead of the second-half of the season. He featured for the under-23s last week.

And Azeez is now back in the fold. He took to Instagram to mark his return to first-team training following the squad’s return from their mid-season trip. And, as already mentioned, Lacazette was one to seemingly express his delight to see him back…

Could Azeez emulate Francis Coquelin after returning to Arsenal prematurely?
Back in 2014, Arsenal loaned Francis Coquelin to Charlton Athletic. However, his time in the Championship was cut short after only a handful of appearances due to a number of injuries at the Emirates.
Despite Arsene Wenger initially being prepared to let Coquelin join a second tier side, the Frenchman went on to make 104 appearances for Arsenal over the next two-and-a-half years.
Admittedly, the circumstances are different with Azeez. Coquelin had a lot more first-team experience under his belt when he left on loan.
But Azeez returns at a time when Arsenal are short of midfield options. So he could certainly benefit just as Coquelin did several years ago.
The hopes are extremely high for Azeez at the Emirates. And someone like Emile Smith Rowe showed just how quickly a player’s situation can change should they make the most of their opportunity.
