Steven Gerrard took a gamble on Umar Sadiq on loan from Roma in the summer and has accepted hasn’t paid off by cutting short his Rangers career already, according to the Sun.
The report says that Gerrard is not even prepared to wait until the January transfer window is open to ditch the underwhelming striker, despite Rangers looking light up front this season.
Gangly hitman Sadiq has not started a league game for the Gers this term but his departure leaves Alfredo Morelos and Kyle Lafferty as Gerrard’s only senior striking options.
That should push him into the January market and the Sun also report that Sadiq’s departure will pave the way for Gerrard to bring yet another Liverpool loanee to Ibrox, in the shape of Dominic Solanke.

Like Sadiq, Solanke is yet to start a league game for his club this season, but his form on international duty with England Under 21s has shown that he is fit and firing despite that lack of matchtime.
Solanke is a huge talent who now needs a consistent run of games to showcase what he can do; he is many levels above Sadiq.
Gerrard ending the transfer window with Solanke in place of flop Sadiq would showcase both his ruthlessness and the connections that can get players Rangers may not otherwise get – it would be a masterstroke.
