Yves Bissouma was sent off again for Tottenham last night and pundit David Prutton has slammed the midfielder for his challenge.

Bissouma went over the ball to leave a hefty mark on the leg of Forest’s Ryan Yates. After initially being given a yellow card, the VAR instructed an on-field review and Bissouma was promptly given his marching orders.

For the Tottenham midfielder, it represented another big blow in his season and he’ll effectively be out until well into 2024 now thanks to his participation in the AFCON.

Bissouma has been a key player under Ange Postecoglou. The new Spurs coach has got the midfielder going after he initially struggled since signing for £25m from Brighton.

However, watching Bissouma get his red last night, former Nottingham Forest midfielder David Prutton was far from impressed, labelling the Spurs man’s actions as ‘awful’.

Speaking for Premier League Productions, Prutton slammed Bissouma for his tackle.

“This to me is a red card. It’s an awful challenge. He can have absolutely no debate about it. This is has got to be a red card. Even the look of Ange Postecoglou’s face is the look of guilt for Yves Bissouma,” Prutton said.

Bissouma needs to think about Tottenham as a whole

Tottenham are hindered enough with a few big injuries so the last thing they need is players being sent off and missing big chunks of game-time because of it.

Ultimately, Bissouma and some other players in the Spurs squad need to think about things a lot more. It goes beyond just them as individuals, and this lack of discipline is starting to catch Spurs out.

Gary Neville has slammed the whole team for lacking composure and it’s hard to argue with that assessment really.

As Prutton says here as well, it was an awful challenge from Bissouma on this occasion and until Spurs stamp this from their game, they’re going to struggle to really challenge.
