Arsenal were a joy to watch against Crystal Palace at the weekend.
The Gunners ran out 5-0 winners against their London rivals, putting on a performance that was incredible to watch.
However, during the game there was one incident involving Mikel Arteta’s side that caused a bit of uproar.
Indeed, Gabriel Jesus dived in a quite embarrassing attempt to win a penalty, and speaking on BBC 606, Chris Sutton has blasted the £45m man for his play-acting.
Sutton says that Jesus’s dive was awful, going as far as to say that he would have sent the Brazilian off for this incident if he were in charge.

Jesus should’ve been sent off
Sutton shared his verdict on the Arsenal man’s dive.
“The winner of this week’s Simulation Game, Gabriel Jesus, as he says it’s not good for the game Gabriel, you’re better than that, you’re better than that. That was awful wasn’t it, did you see the dive? It was awful. Why do players continuously throw themselves to the ground, I would send them off,” Sutton said.
Ridiculous
While we wouldn’t go as far as to say that Jesus should’ve been sent off for this incident, he at least should have been booked.
In an age where we have VAR looking over every potential foul in the penalty area, why wasn’t this picked up on as a clear and obvious dive?
Arsenal wanted this incident checked for a penalty, so why wasn’t this dive seen at the time and punished as it should be.
There’s a reason simulation is a bookable offence, and perhaps if that rule was enforced a bit more stringently, we wouldn’t have incidents like this every week where a top player tries to cheat in order to win his team a penalty.
Diving is a part of football that nobody wants to see, and the referees have to work harder to eradicate it.
