‘Good news’, ‘let’s go’: Some Arsenal fans react as Mikel Arteta favourite back in full training

A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on David Luiz being back in full training, as confirmed by the official Gunners website.

The 33-year-old missed the Gunners’ opening Premier League game of the season after suffering a neck spasm in the build-up to the campaign.

Mikel Arteta stuck with a three-man defence against Fulham, with Kieran Tierney and Rob Holding either side of Gabriel Magalhaes.

However, Luiz’s return would likely see him back in the middle, nudging Gabriel to his left and enabling Tierney to take the left wing-back position.

This is a setup some fans are eagerly hoping to see, as per the below social media reaction:

Luiz was an £8million signing from Chelsea last August, replacing then Arsenal club captain Laurent Koscielny, who joined Bordeaux the previous day.

Some of the Brazilian’s performances came under criticism, none more so than against Manchester City in the Gunners’ return to Premier League action.

However, Luiz shone following his return from suspension and a switch to a back three, during which time he penned fresh terms with the Emirates Stadium side.

Arteta has consistently backed his player, and following Arsenal’s FA Cup semi-final win over Manchester City, the Spaniard called him “phenomenal“.
