‘Awesome’: Liverpool fans praise Trent Alexander-Arnold for England performance

Trent Alexander-Arnold helped England defeat USA 3-0 in an international friendly on Thursday night – and some Liverpool fans on Twitter hailed their defender after his performance.

The 20-year-old right-back earned his fifth senior cap for the Lions, as Gareth Southgate’s side ran out comfortable winners at Wembley in a game that celebrated Wayne Rooney’s last ever international match.

Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard opened the scoring after 25 minutes with a stunning effort into the top corner, before Liverpool’s Alexander-Arnold also netted just moments later.

He made a trademark burst forward into the final third and struck a brilliant finish across goal to leave the goalkeeper stranded.

Bournemouth centre-forward Callum Wilson marked his debut with a goal in the second-half too and it was a fairly comfortable night for England.

Alexander-Arnold has had a meteoric rise in the past 18 months to become a key Liverpool first teamer and is now getting opportunities to impress for England as well.

The youngster is a serious threat when he joins in with attacks and has all the traits of a modern day full-back, but there are perhaps still defensive weaknesses to his game that can be improved.

A selection of Liverpool fans were impressed by his latest outing on the international stage and feel he played a key role.

Here are some of the Liverpool fan tweets on Alexander-Arnold:
