Aubameyang topped stats in one area during NLD between both clubs; is he buying into Arteta's Arsenal?

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was like a different animal for Arsenal during Sunday’s NLD – do his stats prove he is buying into Mikel Arteta’s project?

Aubameyang, 32, has come under criticism since signing a new deal at The Emirates. His form has been up and down, since he put pen to paper.

Some suggested that the Gabon and Arsenal skipper had taken his foot off the throttle, after signing a new deal. That form has lasted for 12 months.

But this time around, after being absent for the first couple of games – Aubameyang has five goals in six games for the North London giants.

His fifth came against Tottenham on Sunday, during a 3-1 win over The Gunners. A brilliant first-time finish with his left foot, into the far corner.

Aubameyang stats: Arsenal skipper played like it cared during NLD

Not only did he score, but he was playing like it cared. Like the result meant to him. He chased down Spurs defenders, and won headers.

In the first few minutes, he blocked a Davinson Sanchez clearance, and then chased the Colombian down – showing a bit of grit and nastiness.

But one stat from Sunday’s 3-1 win, shows just how much Aubameyang has upped his work rate. He won six headers, according to WhoScored.

That was more than any other Arsenal or Tottenham player. It matters to Aubameyang again – perhaps, he is finally buying into Arteta’s Arsenal.

Perhaps, Aubameyang is the kind of player that feeds off the fans. Having the Arsenal fans back in the ground might have kick-started the striker.
