Leeds United are reportedly keen on Ruslan Malinovskyi as Marcelo Bielsa looks to add further depth to the Whites’ midfield this summer, according to The Telegraph.
The Elland Road side has enjoyed a bright return to Premier League life, announcing themselves with a superb performance at Liverpool before running out 4-3 winners over Fulham last time out.
Leeds have already made several big signings this summer, with the likes of Rodrigo and Robin Koch arriving at Elland Road, but it looks as though Bielsa is also eyeing a midfielder.
The Telegraph reports that the Whites’ bid to bring Rodrigo De Paul to Elland Road has, so far, proved unsuccessful due to Udinese’s asking price.
This has apparently prompted Leeds to switch their attentions towards Atalanta’s Malinovskyi, who is said to be valued at £20million.
Earlier this year, the Ukraine international was linked with Chelsea, and in an interview with the Ukrainian FA’s YouTube – via Football Italia – he spoke highly of the Premier League and England.
“I don’t think there are the conditions to talk about the transfer market,” he said in an interview released on the Ukrainian FA’s YouTube account.
“As for England, I can say that we played some games there with Atalanta and the atmosphere is wonderful.
“I like the Premier League, but it’s not worth talking about it. There are no conditions at the moment.”
Malinovskyi has only been with Atalanta for one year but in that time he has thoroughly impressed, registering nine goals and seven assists from 44 appearances.
The 27-year-old’s performances helped the Orobici reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League and finish third in Serie A.
A versatile, high-calibre player with a proven track record, he would be a good fit for Bielsa’s Leeds, and to hear he loves the Premier League is even better – hopefully he’ll get the chance to play in England soon.
