Atletico Madrid set to pip Tottenham to talented youngster David Vilan

Tottenham Hotspur are set to lose out in the race to sign exciting young Spaniard David Vila.

According to AS, the north Londoners will fall short for the 17-year-old, who has also recently caught the eye of Real Madrid.

It’s Atletico Madrid who stand to snap up the Celta Vigo starlet, and he’ll apparently go into their U19 squad with a view to a future promotion to the first-team.

According to AS, Celta see Vilan as a versatile player with ‘tremendous speed’.

He has trained several times with the club’s first-team, but has never made an appearance.

Vilan will supposedly join Atleti for training in ‘the next few days’.

Spurs are said to have compiled reports on the player, who it seems they have failed in their bid to lure him to north London.

Having already represented the Spain U16s and 17s, it seems Vilan is a player with big potential.

Atleti look to have won the race, and it will remain to be seen if Spurs will end up having regrets in the future.

Perhaps they were always going to struggle battling against the two Madrid clubs, who must be extremely difficult to look beyond for young Spanish players.
