La Liga side Atletico Madrid are the latest team to register their interest in Kieran Trippier.

According to The Daily Mail, Diego Simeone is keen to snap up the England international, who has struggled to produce his best form for the Lilywhites this term.

Trippier has been a downward trajectory since his brilliant World Cup, and has admitted he could have done better.

The former Manchester City and Burnley man has three years left to run on his current contract, but may be moved on in the summer with Spurs said to be considering buying two new full-backs.

It has been reported that Tottenham could demand as much as £40 million for Trippier (The Sun).

Interested party Napoli fear they could be priced out of a move given such a high figure, with the Italians willing to offer around £15 million plus add-ons.

TBR’s view

Atletico’s interest is good news for Tottenham as it increases the likelihood of a potential bidding war this summer – Manchester United have also been mentioned.

Realistically Spurs need to move on from Trippier as he has continually showed his defensive frailties this season.

At age 28, it is a good time to cash in, especially since he still has a few years left on his contract.

Ideally Spurs would raise enough cash from a sale to then pump into an offer for Crystal Palace star Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The 21-year-old is one of the brightest young talents in the Premier League and has the potential to surpass Trippier later in his career.
