‘At one stage’… Darren Bent says he genuinely believed £13m player was finished at Arsenal

Arsenal have been absolutely brilliant in recent weeks.

The Gunners have won almost every single game since the turn of the year, and it’s fair to say that something has changed at the Emirates in recent months.

Many of Arsenal’s best players have rediscovered their top form, but there’s also been a bit of a change in terms of personnel.

Indeed, there have been a few positions shifts as of late with Kai Havertz and Declan Rice shifting further forward as Jorginho has come in to play in the holding midfield role.

Jorginho has been utterly incredible since coming back into the side, much to the surprise of Darren Bent who stated on the Kelly and Wrighty Show that at one point he thought the Italian’s time at Arsenal was coming to an end.

Darren Bent thought Jorginho was finished at Arsenal

Bent spoke about the £13m man.

“Jorginho has been put back into a situation. I thought at one stage his time was coming towards an end, but he’s started to control games, you have Thomas Partey coming back. I think Arsenal right now are in a really good place,” Bent said.

Renaissance

Bent isn’t alone in thinking Jorginho was coming towards the end of his time at Arsenal.

The Italian looked to be well and truly out of the picture at the Emirates earlier this season as Kai Havertz, Declan Rice and Thomas Partey were all ahead of him in the midfield pecking order.

However, now, Jorginho is one of the first names on the teamsheet, and as he gels with this squad more and more, he’s getting even better.

Not only has Jorginho been fantastic in his own role, he’s actually helped the likes of Rice and Havertz improve in their new positions as well.

Jorginho coming back into this team may well be a decisive moment in an eventual title win.
