At just £15m, Tottenham need to beat West Ham and sign perfect Lloris replacement

Hugo Lloris is reportedly a target for both Mauricio Pochettino’s Paris Saint-Germain and OGC Nice this summer as his Tottenham Hotspur spell could finally come to an end – and at £15million, Spurs can sign the ideal replacement.

Football site 90Min claimed in January that Pochettino wants Lloris as a replacement for Keylor Navas. The Tottenham and France skipper is set to enter the last 12 months of his Spurs contract, and could return home.

But PSG may find they have competition, from one of the veteran’s old clubs in the form of Nice – with the Telegraph reporting they could launch an ambitious move for Lloris. A replacement might be needed, even if he does not go.

His performance have been questionable of late and whoever fills the vacant Tottenham manager’s role this summer will have to have a reshuffle of the current squad. A new goalkeeper is likely to be high on up the agenda.

The perfect solution currently resides in the capital. Alphonse Areola has starred for Fulham on loan from Pochettino’s PSG and it is claimed by The Express that West Ham want to sign him – for a bargain £15million.

While he has struggled to stem the flow of goals, the ex-Real Madrid loanee has been brilliant for Fulham and along with Joachim Andersen, Areola has probably been Fulham’s best player this season. He will be in demand.

The Hammers want to sign the goalkeeper who remains contracted to Pochettino’s PSG until the summer of 2023 – as Lukasz Fabianski continues to edge towards the end of his professional career. At £15million, he is a bargain.

Spurs need a goalkeeper and even more so if Lloris chooses to depart. Areola, at £15million, would be the perfect replacement and if PSG want to sign Lloris, a deal could be made in which Areola stays in London – but with Spurs.
