Newcastle United are reportedly interested in raiding Scottish champions Celtic in a cut-price £10million move to sign Ryan Christie but face competition from Nice and Patrick Vieira – however, Leeds have got to join that race.
Christie, 25, has become a crucial member at Celtic since returning to the club following a long loan spell at Aberdeen. He has since had a hand in 68 goals during his 107 league and cup appearances for the Scottish champions.
The Scottish Sun claim that Christie’s form has not gone unnoticed. Having entered the final two years of his Celtic contract, both Nice and Newcastle are interested and are confident they can land the attacking midfielder for a bargain £10million.
Meanwhile, at Leeds, the Whites have failed to bring in an attacking midfielder. The club have been desperate to sign a midfielder to play alongside Mateusz Klich – and almost brought in Michael Cuisance from Bayern Munich.

However, a medical saw an earlier injury suffered by the Frenchman show long-term problems. Therefore, Leeds chose not to go through with a deal and a move for the 21-year-old ace was cancelled – with Cuisance since joining Marseille on loan.
That leaves Leeds with the need for an attacking midfielder and Norwich City’s Todd Cantwell has been linked. But with the January window just two and a half months away, should Leeds rush bringing in a player – or just wait slightly longer?
If Christie is available for £10million, then Leeds have got to consider a move for a player that would be the ideal addition alongside Klich. Goals, assists, work rate and quality with both feet – Christie would be ideal for Leeds in January.
Forget Cantwell, Leeds should wait until January and beat both Nice and Newcastle to the signing of the Scotland international.
