At £35m, Ismaila Sarr could be the ideal Wilfried Zaha alternative for Arsenal – TBR View

Arsenal are still in the hunt for new players this week it seems, with the transfer window still having around a week or so to run.

The Gunners are thought to be looking at a new midfielder, with Houssem Aouar and Thomas Partey the two players most likely to walk through the doors of the The Emirates.

However, Mikel Arteta could potentially still do with another attacking player to help him in wide and central areas. At the moment, he is playing captain Aubameyang wide left, with Alexandre Lacazette through the middle. However, the Frenchman’s future still remains unclear even though he has started well.

Previously, Arsenal have been linked with a move for Wilfried Zaha. Arteta is said to be a fan of the Palace winger but no bid has been made and Zaha, once again, looks like being priced out of a move away from Selhurst Park.

But with news emerging that Watford could be willing to accept just £35m for Ismaila Sarr, could Arteta look to target the tricky winger as an alternative to his long-term Zaha interest?

Quick, tricky, and bags of potential

In terms of style of play, few players match up quite like Sarr and Zaha. Both are incredibly pacey, both have immense skillsets with the ball at their feet, and both have a keen eye for a goal.

Sarr is too good to be playing Championship football this season. He needs to be in the Premier League and more importantly, Watford might need to recoup some money. Sarr, then, is a valuable asset.

Liverpool were previously keen on Sarr and it’s easy to see why. At 22, he has potential to become even better and given he can play either wing, he’s a good option for Arsenal to consider.

Things haven’t quite worked for Nicolas Pepe and Gabriel Martinelli is out long-term. The signing of Sarr, then, at what is a bargain £35m really, could prove to be a fine piece of business for the Gunners.
