Newcastle United have seemingly given themselves a chance of survival under Steve Bruce by moulding an exciting three-man attack in the form of Joelinton, Allan Saint-Maximing and Miguel Almiron. But out wide, they have little cover.
Saint-Maximin has taken the Premier League by storm and already become a fan favourite, not only for his performances, but because of his activity on social media. Almiron remains well-liked by fans, even if he is yet to break his Toon duck.
Joelinton has struggled in front of goal since his £40m move, but fans are well aware that the Brazilian works incredibly hard and that his hold-up play is just as important as scoring goals. The young, exciting trio, could see the Toon survive.
However, if one of those front three get injured, Bruce’s side will be in trouble. Replacements out wide are minimal – Matt Ritchie is the wrong side of 30 and has been offering cover in defence. Christian Atsu has scored one goal in almost two years.

Newcastle need to bring in top-quality cover for a decent price, given Mike Ashley’s stronghold on the Toon coffers. It should point Newcastle in the direction of Celtic loanee Mo Elyounoussi – who have just been told by Southampton to pay £10million.
That is according to the Independent, who claim Celtic can land the Norway international on a permanent basis for what would be a club-record fee for the Scottish champions. He was signed for £16million, but played just 19 times in 2018-19.
A change in manager did not help. But at Celtic, Elyounoussi is showing his true colours – scoring seven goals and laying on six assists in 12 outings. He is back to the top of his game and it is understandable to see why Celtic would want to sign him.
But bringing Elyounoussi back to the Premier League and giving him another chance to shine with a restored confidence as competition for both Saint-Maximin and Almiron would be excellent business – and fit in with the model of resale value.
Newcastle simply have to join Celtic in the race to land the Saints man permanently for a figure of £10million.
