Aston Villa’s staff and players all love 29-year-old player, they are so impressed by his attitude

Among all success stories at Aston Villa this season, Unai Emery’s staff has been incredibly impressed by one player in particular.

There’s no doubt that on the pitch Villa are a side of equal measure, a team that is stronger through its collective rather than individual stars.

However, off the pitch, it seems that captain John McGinn is perhaps head and shoulders above his teammates in importance.

And as detailed by The Athletic today, McGinn is now one of the most popular member’s of Villa’s dressing room, a player loved by staff.

The report details how the captain will go out of his way to speak to anyone who arrives at the training ground, and will similarly go above and beyond on match days.

McGinn will always locate the supporters and friends who have turned up earlier to games to chat and sign merchandise.

A captain leading by example.

And although Emery’s team have made obvious improvements on the pitch this season, his Villa staff may also hold this kind of behaviour as similarly important.

Of course, the Scotland international is also doing it on the pitch.

McGinn’s winner against Arsenal last weekend felt like a culmination of all his hard work, a midfielder who played for Hibernian not so long ago.

Unai Emery’s Villa staff have been amazed by John McGinn this season

As you’d expect, John McGinn has been very quick to downplay talk of Aston Villa winning the title this season.

It was perhaps a surprise that Unai Emery was willing to say his side were in the title race in a recent interview, which may add some pressure.

However, it would seem ill advised to question any of the decisions the Spaniard makes right now.

Emery and his staff clearly have a Villa squad keenly buying into his philosophy, hanging off his every word – something that didn’t seem to happen at Arsenal.

And although all is rightfully positive right now, Micah Richards has still explained one reason why Villa can’t win the league this season.

That being said, fans would absolutely love to prove him wrong.
