Aston Villa made some interesting transfer decisions this summer. Steve Bruce certainly came in for some stick from a certain section of Aston Villa fans regarding some of the players he let leave on loan. Jed Steer, Tommy Elphick and Ritchie De Laet can all have reason to be disappointed in being allowed an exit.
As does Andre Green.
The 20-year-old winger had impressed Aston Villa fans in pre-season and many were hopeful that he might have a breakthrough season at Villa Park.
However, despite featuring in the club’s opening four games of the campaign, he was allowed to join Portsmouth on loan in August.
It came as Aston Villa brought in Anwar El-Ghazi on loan and closed in on a deal for Everton’s Yannick Bolasie.

Green looked an absolute coup for the League One side. However, it has not been the dream start to life on the South Coast.
Green played just 45 minutes of league football before having to undergo a minor knee surgery a month ago. Green needed a cyst removed from his kneecap and is now at Bodymoor Heath doing his recovery.
After struggling with a hamstring problem for so long at Aston Villa, the youngster simply does not need further injury trouble.
He is pencilled in to return to action at the start of November and Portsmouth will hope he can help them in their push for promotion.
As for Aston Villa, they will just hope the youngster can stay fit as he remains a hot prospect for the future at Villa Park.
