Aston Villa's Aaron Ramsey thrilled by news out of Tottenham

Aston Villa talent Aaron Ramsey has congratulated Tottenham Hotspur gem Alfie Devine after he signed a new Spurs contract.

The Villans prodigy and England youth international won the European Under-19 Championship this year alongside the Tottenham talent.

Ramsey, currently on loan at Norwich, was one of many top talents who wished Devine well as he penned a new deal at Spurs.

Tottenham confirmed on Tuesday that the 18-year-old has committed his future to N17 until the summer of 2027.

Devine took to Instagram to express his delight at extending his Tottenham stay:

And he received plenty of congratulatory messages.

“Top class” talent

Devine, who joined the Spurs academy in 2020 from Wigan, is already the Lilywhites’ youngest player and goalscorer.

He scored in the FA Cup tie against Marine last year.

Jamie Carragher, whose son James also came through the Latics academy, described Devine as “top class” and was “gutted” the Latics didn’t keep him.

Last August, Tottenham handed Devine a contract until 2024 as reward for his progress in the N17 ranks.

According to The Athletic, Jose Mourinho told the player that he sees ‘shades of Bruno Fernandes’ in him.

Devine scored 11 goals in just 22 appearances in all competitions last season for Spurs’ at youth level.
