Aston Villa will bid for ‘world class’ £52m player as soon as Jhon Duran leaves

Aston Villa already know what they intend to do once a deal for Jhon Duran to leave Villa Park is finalised.

The Colombia international is still expected to depart Aston Villa this summer – despite West Ham moving onto Niclas Fullkrug after seeing a £32m bid rejected – with clubs in Saudi Arabia keen to sign the South American.

So, what will Aston Villa do once Jhon Duran is sold? Let’s take a look…

Aston Villa have Joao Felix plan once Jhon Duran leaves

An update from Spanish journalist Héctor Gómez now states that Aston Villa will bid for Joao Felix when the Colombian leaves the Midlands.

It is said that the Villans have already told Atletico Madrid about this plan, and the Portugal international himself is keen to join Aston Villa.

Gómez explains that Aston Villa need Duran to be sold before a bid for Felix can be submitted, as the incoming cash will free up space in the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability margins.

Furthermore, the respected journalist adds that Aston Villa’s bid will not go beyond €40m (£34.3m) – despite the fact Atletico Madrid want €60m (£51.5m) to sell the man they paid £113m to sign from Benfica in July 2019.

Gómez also mentions that Unai Emery is personally motivated to sign Felix, as the Spaniard believes he can turn the 24-year-old into a superstar.

Unai Emery could be onto something special

We love the fact Emery is personally pushing to sign Felix, as the man from Viseu is a truly special talent just waiting to find a settled environment to flourish.

There’s a reason Atletico Madrid spent £113m to sign the Portuguese sensation when he was just 19 years of age.

People were talking about Felix as the second coming of Cristiano Ronaldo, while there were also comparisons to Kaka.

Miguel Angel Gil Marin – CEO of Atletico Madrid – even called the forward a “world class” player upon his arrival at the Wanda Metropolitano, which is quite the comment to aim at a teenager.

Unfortunately, Felix made the wrong decision in joining Atletico Madrid, scoring just 34 goals in 131 appearances as he struggled to adapt to Diego Simeone’s more defensive style of play.

Escape routes have been hard to find, with Atletico Madrid understandably keen to receive something close to the £113m they spent in order to sell Felix, a fee no club wants to go near for obvious reasons.

However, if Emery can bring the Portugal international to Aston Villa for a fee in the region of £40m this summer, it could prove to be fine business later down the line.
