Aston Villa had their first pre-season run-out on English soil yesterday, winning 1-0 against League One Shrewsbury Town.
The only goal of the contest came courtesy of Scott Hogan who fired home after some good play from new recruit, Wesley.
Villa boss Dean Smith has been busy preparing his squad for next season.
Eight new players have arrived into Smith’s ranks, with more likely to follow before the season commences.

The game against Shrewsbury proved to be a good run out for Villa.
Hogan’s sharp finish proved decisive in a tightly contested affair and Smith will hope to increase the intensity prior to the big kick-off.
Brazilian newcomer Wesley caught the eye with his performance.
The £22 million signing from Club Brugge (Express and Star) looked lively and his ability on the ball looks quality.
A 22-year-old, he netted 17 goals and registered 12 assists last season in Belgium and looks an exciting addition to the Villa ranks.

Tammy Abraham has returned to Chelsea following his exploits at Villa Park last season, with the mantle of scoring goals now in Wesley’s lap.
Following his quality showing in yesterday’s pre-season affair, Villa fans were buzzing at what he has to offer.
Obviously, this is just the start, but here is a selection of what the club’s supporters were saying about Wesley:
