‘Superb’, ‘Please stay’: Aston Villa fans respond to cryptic Tyrone Mings tweet

The defender arrived at Villa Park in January looking to play regular football after slipping down the pecking order at Bournemouth.

Aston Villa gave themselves a top-six lifeline at the weekend when they thumped Derby County 4-0 in the Championship.

It offered a timely reminder of the quality that Villa possess and with games coming up against teams around them, it is impossible to curb any play-off talk just yet.

It will take a remarkable run to see them gatecrash the end of season lottery.

Dean Smith does boast one of the best squads in the division, however, and they cannot be ruled out.

Defensively the team was strengthened in the January transfer window.

Tyrone Mings was added on loan from Bournemouth and he has quickly developed a close bond with supporters.

The 25-year-old has played six games for the Villans netting one goal for the club.

Yesterday, Mings took to Twitter to show his dedication to the Villa cause by posting a somewhat cryptic tweet, which read:

In using the term ‘Just getting started’, Villa fans will naturally be curious as to what he means.

Could this be Mings’ way of claiming that he wants to stay at Villa Park beyond this season, despite only being with the club for a short period of time?

Time might tell what the tweet means but it has certainly got Villa fans excited at the prospect of Mings sticking around.

We rounded up the best responses to the central defender following his latest update…
