Aston Villa transfer: Some fans react as Smith reportedly eyes title-winner
A number of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from the Daily Mail this week concerning Ashley Young and a potential move for the wide-man in the transfer window.
Villa have already sent out a huge message this summer. The Villans broke their transfer record to bring in Emi Buendia.
But they are also seemingly keeping their eye on potential bargains in the market. And one player on their radar will be very familiar to the Villa Park faithful.
According to the Daily Mail, Young is in line to rejoin Villa. Burnley and Watford also want the 35-year-old.
The former England international is set to leave Inter Milan this summer. And a return to the Premier League is on the cards.
Young made 190 appearances for the Villans in all competitions. He averaged a goal every five games for the club before moving to Manchester United.
And while he is now well into the twilight of his career – Young turns 36 next month – many of the fans cannot see a reason why they should not sign him.
‘Why is everyone mad’: Some Aston Villa fans approve of Ashley Young transfer
Several of the supporters insisted that he would be a superb signing on a free transfer as a back-up for Matt Targett.
He would bring further experience. And he has also won a number of honours during his career. So many think he would be a very smart signing.
With that in mind, here is what some of the fans make of the reports…
would actually be class as a back up left back why is everyone mad

Great signing as a back up to Targett

I’d have him all day long as a back up could get the old song out again

All the people hating this, we literally have no senior players at the club, he’s won lots of things, would be a wise head to help out some of the younger players. Improve their game. Inter want to keep him after just winning the league & he’s not good enough to be on our bench?

Serie A winner who Inter want to keep…..
As a back up to Matty Targett and general utility player it’s not a bad shout. It would allow more funds to be spent elsewhere as well.

Play left back and right back. Experienced and will fit in lovely. Couple years will the youngsters get upto speed. No brainer.

Might be an unpopular opinion but I’d be happy to see him back
