Aston Villa are set to complete summer signing number 12 later on today, with Tom Heaton nearing an £8 million move.

The Telegraph claims that the Burnley goalkeeper is due at Villa for a medical later today.

Heaton will bring an end to a six-year association with the Clarets. He leaves Turf Moor with 65 clean sheets from 200 appearances for Sean Dyche’s outfit.

The 33-year-old will bolster Dean Smith’s goalkeeping department considerably.

Jed Steer kept goal as Villa were promoted through the play-offs last season and he now looks set to be demoted to understudy.

Heaton boasts three England caps to his name and could complete his switch in the coming days.

The experienced custodian started his career at Manchester United but left without making a first-team appearance.

His Premier League expertise could be pivotal for Villa as they aim to have a successful season during 2019/20.
