Aston Villa target Ajani Burchall confirms departure from Bournemouth

AFC Bournemouth teenager Ajani Burchall has confirmed that he is leaving the Cherries this summer, with Aston Villa previously being linked with the winger.

The 16-year-old Championship starlet took to Instagram to announce his decision that he will be leaving the club at the end of his current deal this summer. Dean Smith’s side were reported in Match by the Sun as the favourites to sign the EFL starlet, with Arsenal and Leeds United also interested in Burchall.

Burchall became Bournemouth’s third youngest ever player in the club’s history when the winger made his first and only appearance for Jonathan Woodgate’s side in a 5-0 win against Huddersfield Town in December of last year.

Despite Bournemouth looking strong to return to the Premier League via the play-offs, Burchall has decided to leave the south coast club at the end of this season.

Whilst Burchall’s next club is yet to be confirmed, Villa stand in a strong position to sign the Bermuda youth international, with Dean Smith showing a fondness to playing youth players, with the Premier League boss this week handing league debuts to academy graduates to Carney Chukwuemeka and Jaden Philogene-Bidace.

At just 16, Burchall is already attracting some big-name clubs for his services after impressing and developing well at Bournemouth. And for Villa, signing the teenager would be a big sign of intent from the Birmingham-based club.

The EFL youngster is being chased by some of the biggest teams in the country, such as Arsenal and Leeds, and for Villa, acquiring Burchall’s signature will be a huge coup for the club as well as a positive sign that the Villains are on the right direction to become one of the most promising and exciting sides in the Premier League.
