Aston Villa winger Trezeguet has moved to praise his international teammate Mohamed Elneny for his performance for Arsenal last night.
The Egyptian internationals squared off at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League, with Trezeguet and Villa coming out on top.
Dean Smith’s side cruised to a brilliant 3-0 win in north London to get back on track after two straight defeats.
Trezeguet came in for credit for a great performance that saw him force Bukayo Saka to score an own goal to open the scoring for the visitors.
The 26-year-old was delighted with the three points, but also reserved praised for Arsenal star Elneny.
He told beIN Sports TV(quoted by KingFut): “Elneny is a hardworking player, he worked and believed in himself and kept working and ended up being a key player for Arsenal.
“He played well during the game but his team was unlucky and I hope he remains among the starting eleven.”
Elneny was powerless to prevent last night’s dismal result for Arsenal, but has drawn praise for several of his other performances this season.
TBR’s View – Elneny’s first poor showing
Despite Trezeguet’s comments on his friend, Elneny did struggle last night but that can be said for most of the players on show for the Gunners.
The 28-year-old has been great since coming back into the picture.
It would probably be harsh of Mikel Arteta to drop him after the international break – it was only last week that he produced that exceptional display against Manchester United along with Thomas Partey.
As Trezeguet says, hopefully Arteta sticks with the £50,000-a-week star (Spotrac).
