West Bromwich Albion confirmed the capture of striker Karlan Grant on Thursday evening as the Baggies agreed a £15million (BBC) with Championship side Huddersfield Town – and Aston Villa star Ezri Konsa has reacted, among others.
Grant, 23, caught the attention of numerous admirers last season – scoring a whopping 19 Championship goals for a struggling Huddersfield side, as well as laying on four assists. It has seen the Baggies look to bring him to the Hawthorns.
Slaven Bilic had options up top with Charlie Austin, Kennth Zohore and Hal Robson-Kanu, but it is clear that the former Croatia manager wanted a new attacking spearhead. Callum Robinson, naturally a winger, had been playing up front.
Now, West Brom have brought in a striker in the form of Grant – who gives the Baggies more of a physical presence up top. Grant, who has signed a six-year Baggies contract, has posted on Instagram after a move was confirmed.
Grant does have Premier League experience after breaking into the Huddersfield side during the 2018-19 season. In his 13 Premier League outings, Grant scored an impressive four goals for the Terriers during that brief top-tier stint.
Aston Villa’s in-form defender Konsa reacted on Instagram, telling Konsa that his “family is proud” – after playing alongside Grant at Charlton Athletic. Tammy Abraham and Grady Diangana also responded.
