Yannick Bolasie has terminated his loan spell with Aston Villa and returned to Everton.
While Aston Villa lose one of their first-team players, Bolasie’s sizeable wages are now available to bring in new players.
Dean Smith must look to bring in a like-for-like replacement for Bolasie but he would be better advised to look at other positions.
Rather than sign a new winger, Aston Villa should look to address their left-back problem.
Neil Taylor operates at left-back but his performances have received criticism. He has formed part of a leaky Aston Villa defence.
Aston Villa should look to firm up their interest in one of two left-backs: Tyrone Mings or Rico Henry.

Mings has been linked with a loan move to either Aston Villa or West Brom, according to The Express and Star.
Standing at 6ft 5in tall, the 25-year-old is also comfortable at centre-half, making him a useful versatile option for Smith on a short-term deal.
Mings is out of favour at Bournemouth but he would be an asset for any Championship side and an immediate upgrade on Taylor at Villa Park.
Brentford left-back Henry would also be a shrewd acquisition for the Villans. Smith knows the 21-year-old well, having worked with him at Walsall and Brentford.
With nearly 100 senior appearances under his belt already in his career, the ex-England under-20 full-back has the perfect blend of youth and experience.
Using Bolasie’s new wages, Smith should bring a new left-back to Aston Villa for a late season play-off push.
