Aston Villa’s reported pursuit of Milot Rashica appears to have gone cold.
Fehmarn24 claimed recently that Villa are ‘ready to pay’ €25 million/£22.5 million to sign the Werder Bremen attacker, but it seems the player is not completely sold by the idea of moving to Villa Park.
The German publication added that Rashica would not fancy a potential relegation battle, with Villa having barely survived the drop last term.
As everybody knows, things can happen out of the blue in the transfer market.
It could be that a deal for Rashica would come to fruition eventually if negotiations continued.
But perhaps Villa ought to look a little closer to home if they are indeed after another winger following the signing of Bertrand Traore.
According to talkSPORT, Chelsea star Callum Hudson-Odoi is pushing for a loan move away from Stamford Bridge after the club added the likes of Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz to their attack.
Villa have done loan business with Chelsea before of course having taken Tammy Abraham for the 2018/19 season, and perhaps Hudson-Odoi could be a realistic option for Dean Smith.
TBR’s View – Hudson-Odoi to Villa would suit all parties
Villa are being linked with Ross Barkley at the moment, but they should be all over Hudson-Odoi if the Rashica deal really has fizzled out.
He has shown in his fledgling career what a big talent he is – he just needs game time.
The £120,000-a-week star (Spotrac) would get that at Villa Park and, in return, provide Dean Smith with pace and the ability to beat a man in one-on-one situations.
He could operate from the left and allow Jack Grealish to move inside, which is arguably where he is better.
