Aston Villa should avoid Christian Fuchs amid £60k-a-week and MLS suggestions

Aston Villa are reportedly interested in the signature of Christin Fuchs from Leicester City. The Mirror reports that the Austrian is a target after falling down the pecking order at the King Power Stadium due to the emergence of Ben Chilwell.

Aston Villa need to strengthen at left-back, with Neil Taylor struggling to find his best form.

Fuchs would be a perfect option and the Premier League winner would undoubtedly have a big impact at Villa Park.

However, a couple of factors about the move from the report would suggest that Aston Villa should steer clear.

Firstly there are his massive wages. Leicester reportedly want Aston Villa to pay the full amount of £60,000-a-week to sign the player on loan. Then there is the apparent lack of longevity behind the deal. Fuchs is married to an American and is hoping to head to Major League Soccer in the summer – according to the report.

Aston Villa should not shell out such a massive amount of wages on a player they have little chance of benefitting from long-term. It is easy to see him as a short-term solution that could help the club into the Premier League. However, Aston Villa need to start looking long-term and a left-back who can play in the role for a number of years should be on their radar instead.

Fuchs should be left behind.
