Aston Villa have been busy rebuilding their squad this summer with no fewer than nine players added to Dean Smith’s ranks.
It is something of a squad overhaul from the side that won promotion to the Premier League, with 10 players departing.
One man doesn’t rate Villa’s summer business, however.

Former Premier League gaffer Sam Allardyce believes they have added too many players to the squad.
He was speaking as a pundit on Alan Brazil’s Sports Breakfast on Talk Sport and slammed the recruitment.
The ex-Everton manager said: “I have to question the quality if £100 million is stretching over nine players. For that money, I want three players. Integrating all the new signings into the squad is an extremely difficult job.”
Allardyce has been out of football since leaving Everton last summer when he was replaced by Marco Silva.
Naturally, some Villa fans haven’t taken too kindly to the ex-England boss wading in on the club’s summer transfer business.

He doesn’t really have much of a point either.
The vast majority of the club’s new recruits are decent investments for the future and it looks like an exciting time to be an Aston Villa supporter.
Here is a selection of tweets from Villa supporters in response to Allardyce’s comments:
