Report: Aston Villa make bid for Brentford winger Said Benrahma

Brentford winger Said Benrahma is hoping for a quick resolution to his future, with the player wanting a move to Aston Villa, according to L’Equipe.

The 23-year-old has been the subject of a bid in the region of £15 million from the Premier League newcomers.

Dean Smith knows all about Benrahma having taken him to the Bees from Nice last year.

During the 2018/19 campaign, the Algeria international netted 10 goals and registered 15 assists as Brentford finished in mid-table.

The French news outlet is now reporting that Benrahma wants to switch to Villa and hopes for a ‘quick’ resolution.

Smith has been busy reshaping his squad ahead of the club’s maiden campaign back in the top-flight.

He has added eight new players to his ranks, one of which is Benrahma’s former team-mate Ezri Konsa.

Benrahma can operate on either flank and has won two caps for his country during his career.

Smith has chased Benrahma all summer and with a bid of £15 million apparently on the table, a deal could be close.

It seems unlikely that Brentford would be in a position to turn down such an offer and why would they?

A substantial sum of money would allow them to recruit a solid replacement, whilst it would get a player who holds a desire to leave off their books.

This one could move quickly and there is no doubt that Benrahma would complement Villa’s squad.

Smith’s squad is nearing completion and the Algerian could prove one of the final pieces of his Premier League puzzle.
