Aston Villa reportedly planning talks with player Grealish deemed 'unbelievable' and 'underrated'
Aston Villa are reportedly planning talks with Ashley Young over a potential return to Villa Park.
Multiple outlets claim the Premier League side is the latest to express an interest in the 35-year-old.
Young is set to depart Inter Milan this summer after turning down a new deal at the San Siro.
The Athletic claims Young would like a Premier League return, with Watford and Burnley also in the frame.
Dean Smith apparently sees Young as potential cover for Matt Target and Matty Cash.
The Villans reportedly want a player who can play on both sides if needed.
They are also considering keeping Frederic Guilbert as back-up next season following his loan at Strasbourg.
Young, played for Villa between 2007 and 2011, clocking up 190 appearances.
He then left Villa and joined Manchester United for £17m, making over 250 appearances for the Red Devils.
Young subsequently left Old Trafford in 2020 and joined Inter, where he won the Serie A title last season.
Aston Villa would be landing an “unbelievable” player
Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish waxed lyrical about Young last year on Twitter.
The 2007-08 campaign saw Villa finish sixth in the Premier League, with Young scoring eight goals and assisting 16.
Grealish said Young – who was just 22 at the time – was “unbelievable” that season.
Unbelievable player, I loved him this season! So underrated & didn’t realise how young he was during that season 👏🏻👏🏻
