When Aston Villa signed James Bree from Barnsley in January 2017 it looked a fine piece of business for the future. As reported by the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa spent £3 million on the talented full-back.
However, he struggled to become a regular under Steve Bruce and Dean Smith ended up loaning him to Ipswich Town in January.
This summer, with Aston Villa promoted, it was clear that Bree was not going to be a regular at Villa Park.
With that in mind, he was again sent out on loan, this time joining newly-promoted Luton Town in the Championship.
Aston Villa fans will be pleased to know that, so far, that loan is going well.
Bree, who is expected to recover from injury to face Fulham this evening, has been a regular in the side this term.
He has provided two assists, played in a number of positions and looks to be a key player if Luton are to stay in the Championship this season.
Aston Villa will surely not have given up on Bree just yet and at 22-years-old there is every chance he could still develop into a potential first-teamer with the club.
Hopefully, he continues to thrive at Kenilworth Road this term.
