Aston Villa star Jack Grealish could give Dean Smith the perfect pre-season present by signing a new contract and rejecting a move to Manchester City.
Grealish has emerged as a key target for City this summer. Pep Guardiola is a big admirer of the England star, and sees him as ideal for his ever-impressive City side.
However, Villa have remained defiant in their own stance on Grealish and now Talksport claims that a new contract could be on the cards.

The report suggests Grealish is having second thoughts when it comes to making a move to Manchester. In turn, he is said to be considering putting pen to paper on fresh terms as well.
With Villa looking to build on their fine season last time out, keeping Grealish would be the perfect news for Dean Smith this summer.
The club have backed Smith in the last few windows and spent big to try and show Grealish they mean business. Emi Buendia has arrived this summer for big money, with Villa fans excited by the prospect of both he and Grealish linking up.
U-turn?
The problem Manchester City do have in getting players in is that guarantee of game time. Their squad is so good that if Grealish did move, he’d almost have to force his way into the side.
Silva, De Bruyne, Mahrez, Sterling, Torres, are all players he’d have to compete with. And that could be what’s giving him the doubt.
It must also be remembered that there is no official bid as yet, so Grealish could just choose to quell the speculation in his own way.
If he does sign a new contract, then it will eclipse any new signing Villa could have made this summer.
