Aston Villa must now approach high-flying Lille over permanent Anwar El Ghazi move

Anwar El Ghazi has finally found his feet at Aston Villa and now he is thriving in a starting role.

After struggling to make much of an impact in England at first, El Ghazi has managed to turn things around at Villa Park.

El Ghazi joined Aston Villa on loan from Lille in the summer and fans were very excited about his arrival.

The twice-capped Netherlands international was once rated as one of the best young wingers in Europe but his career had started to stall.

El Ghazi netted a consolation goal in his third Aston Villa match but by early November, he had played just six times and was not even making the bench.

His comeback has been commendable, though. Recalled as a late substitute against Nottingham Forest, El Ghazi got on the score sheet and that gave him the confidence to kick on.

The Dutchman impressed against Middlesbrough, making two key passes and completing nearly 85 per cent of his 36 total passes, according to Who Scored.

This was followed up by a man of the match display in the derby clash with West Brom at The Hawthorns.

El Ghazi scored two goals and made four key passes in Aston Villa’s 2-2 draw with the Baggies.

And with his parent club Lille flying high and sitting second in Ligue 1, this is the perfect time to sort out a permanent deal.

Lille are unlikely to need the 23-year-old, who can now take his career to the next level at Aston Villa.
