Aston Villa manager Dean Smith has praised the attitude of deadline day signing Borja Baston, as per the Express and Star.
They report that Baston cost Swansea £15 million and despite the fact that move had not been especially successful until this season – where he has six goals (Transfermarkt) – Smith said he is keen to impress at Villa.
He said: “I’m really pleased. I told everyone I wanted to get another striker and we’ve brought in Borja who, for me, will be someone who’s really hungry who’ll want to go and prove himself and that’s the type of player we want at the football club – hungry people who want to go on and challenge.”

TBR’s View – Baston has previous at proving doubters wrong
Many people thought Baston was an expensive bust before the start of this season at Swansea but he kicked off the campaign with five goals in the first five league games of the campaign.
He has proved unable to maintain that pace but he may hope to use that experience of finding the net when he had been written off at Villa.
The Spaniard is an underwhelming arrival on paper and some Villa fans may look at his record of one goal in 18 Premier League matches and fear he hasn’t got the quality to succeed at the club.
Only time will tell on that score but Baston knows how to come back from being written off. And as Smith said, he will likely be hungry to succeed.
