Aston Villa and Sheffield United have not yet made an approach for Coventry City youngster Tom Bayliss, despite reports recently linking them with the player.
The Sun reported earlier this month that both Premier League newbies were keen on the 20-year-old.
The Blades’ interest in the player was slightly newer than what is believed to be a more long-standing keenness from local rivals Aston Villa. The Sun on Sunday reported last month (09/06/2019; pg59) that Aston Villa were keen on the Sky Blues midfield dynamo.
However, that interest has clearly not turned into anything concrete as yet.
As reported by the Coventry Telegraph, the League One side’s chief executive David Boddy has confirmed there has been ‘absolutely nothing’ in the line of a transfer approach for the player.
Considering his exceptional talent, it would be no surprise if Aston Villa were indeed keen on the two-cap England under-19 international.
But with the focus at Villa Park clearly on improving the first-team for a Premier League return it makes sense Aston Villa have not yet come calling.
Fans will just hope he remains on the radar heading into the new season.
