Aston Villa icon Ian Taylor has sent Manchester City a message regarding Jack Grealish.

The Villans are reportedly on the verge of selling their club captain to the Citizens.

According to The Guardian, talks between all the parties are in their final stages.

Barring any unexpected hitches, Grealish should move to City for £100million, added the report.

However, Villa pleasantly surprised their fanbase an unexpected signing on Wednesday as Danny Ings arrived at B6.

In a move that came out of the blue, the Villans confirmed the striker’s arrival from Southampton on a three-year deal.

According to Hampshire Live, Villa have signed Ings – whose Saints contract had one year left to run – for £30million.

The 29-year-old joins fellow summer recruits Leon Bailey, Emiliano Buendia and Ashley Young at Villa Park.

Villa are doing a great job of bolstering their ranks and, if Grealish goes, they could reinvest that money further.

And Taylor took to Twitter to say City “can have Jack” – once the Villans have signed who they need to sign.

“Danny is an outstanding Premier League footballer who has scored goals wherever he has played,” Villa manager Dean Smith told the club website.

“He is also a top professional with a great character who will be a leader in our squad and a role model for our rapidly developing young academy players who are now in and around the first team.

“I am delighted to welcome Danny to our great club.”

Villa get their Premier League campaign under way on Saturday 14 August when they head to newly-promoted Watford.
