Aston Villa legend Ian Taylor disappointed with Arsenal result

Aston Villa will be kicking themselves this evening after falling to a 3-2 loss against Arsenal at The Emirates. With 10 minutes left to play, Aston Villa seemed to be on their way to a win. John McGinn and Wesley had the visitors in the lead against 10-man Arsenal, who saw Ainsley Maitland-Niles sent off in the first-half.

However, goals from Callum Chambers and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the final 10 minutes saw Aston Villa come away from the game with nothing to show for it.

Chambers capitalised on a poor headed clearance from Tyrone Mings whilst Aubameyang fired home a free-kick for the win in the 84th minute.

It was a poor result considering the performance put in by Aston Villa who deserved to come away with at least a point from the game.

One former Aston Villa player was very disappointed with the end result. Club legend Ian Taylor, who played over 200 league games for the club, took to Twitter to suggest Aston Villa let their opponents off the hook.

There is no doubt that Aston Villa did not deserve to lose this game. Yet again they were made to pay for some sloppy play at the back, with Arsenal’s other goal coming from a penalty needlessly given away by Bjorn Engels.

If Aston Villa are to stay up this season, then more performances like this will be needed. But they need to end with three points in the bag.
