Aston Villa secured an emphatic 5-1 win over League Two Walsall last night as Dean Smith’s side cranked up their pre-season preparations.
New signings Jota and Wesley both scored twice, with Jack Grealish also marking his name on the scoresheet.
Boss Smith has been busy strengthening his squad this summer.
Since promotion to the Premier League, no fewer than nine new players have arrived, with more likely to follow.

The pre-season games are all about fitness and seeing what works tactically. Seeing the new players get goals under their belts will surely delight Smith though.
Jota netted twice last night and he looks like a shrewd addition to Villa’s ranks.
He was added in a surprise move from Birmingham City. A fee of £4 million was agreed (The Sun) and Gary Gardner was sent to St Andrew’s as part of the deal.
The versatile forward is more at home on the wing and he looks set for a big season.

Smith might have surprised a few people in taking him ahead of their maiden campaign back in the Premier League but he looks up to the task.
Villa fans were certainly pleased with what he had to offer last night, taking to Twitter to praise his performance.
