Aston Villa striker hitting form ahead of play-offs is bad news for rivals.

Aston Villa are currently on a remarkable run in the Championship. Dean Smith’s in-form team have won 10 games on the spin and are the side with momentum ahead of the play-offs.

The Villans have come up on the rails after languishing in mid-table as little as two months ago. With their injury problems now cleared up, the team has every chance of reaching the Premier League this season.

Jack Grealish, John McGinn and Tyrone Mings have rightly taken the lion share of the plaudits during the recent good form.

One man who has timed a return to form to perfection, however, is Jonathan Kodjia. Of late he has struggled for game time but scored crucial goals in recent games with Rotherham United and Millwall.

The 29-year-old’s ability has never been in doubt. Eight goals this season, despite not having a proper run in the team is a decent return.

His goalscoring prowess at Championship level is clear for all to see. In 137 Championship games during his career, he has netted 46 goals. Since signing for Villa for £11 million in 2016 (BBC Sport), the fans have embraced his quality.

Kodjia has played second fiddle to the impressive Tammy Abraham this season but his return to form will present Smith with a good headache to have.

The ex-Bristol City man returning to form at this stage of the season is a massive boost for Villa and extremely bad news for their Championship play-off rivals.
