Aston Villa secured their first Premier League victory since winning promotion to the top-flight, beating Everton 2-0 on Friday night. Goals from Wesley and Anwar El-Ghazi ensured a first three points for Dean Smith’s team.
The Villans were unfortunate not to take something from their first two games with Tottenham and Bournemouth but weren’t to be denied at Villa Park on Friday night.

John McGinn is set for big things and he has already looked lively in his first three Premier League fixtures. Alongside Jack Grealish, in midfield, they can prove a real handful for opposing players on their day.
The 24-year-old was today called into the Scotland squad for forthcoming games against Russia and Belgium. His latest call-up will give him the chance to add to the 15 caps he already has for his country.
His call-up doesn’t really come as a major surprise. Boss Steve Clarke will know that the little magician is one of his most important players as he goes about reviving the nation’s fortunes.

McGinn is a vastly popular figure at Villa Park and the supporters have taken to Twitter to praise their star man on his latest international call-up.
Here is a selection of tweets from the Villa faithful following McGinn earning Scotland recognition:
