Aston Villa have reportedly set their sights on a £26million-rated player who has been likened to Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona.
The Villans are one of several Premier League clubs in pursuit of Juventus loanee Matias Soule, according to Calciomercato.
Villa have enjoyed a bright season so far, and though their form has dropped in recent weeks, there’s still the potential for a top-four finish.
The Villans have shown that they have serious pull in the transfer market, bringing highly sought-after players like Moussa Diaby and Pau Torres to Villa.
There’s scope for Villa to add yet more quality players to their squad in the summer, and now they’re apparently intensifying their interest in one of Serie A’s rising stars.

Aston Villa target Matias Soule likely to be sold in summer
Soule is on Juve’s books but has gone out on loan to Frosinone this season, where he has become ‘one of the best players in all of Serie A in 2023-24’, according to FootballTransfers.
The 20-year-old Argentine has registered an impressive 10 goals and two assist from 21 Italian top-flight outings, putting him firmly in the sights of clubs like Villa.
Calciomercato report that Juve are thinking of cashing in on Soule, whose contract runs until 2026. He is apparently valued at €40million (£34million).
The Turin-based club reportedly feel that Kenan Yildiz is the one who will take them forward, as opposed to Soule.
They are planning to reinvest the money raised by Soule’s departure to strengthen other areas of the pitch, added the report.
As well as Villa, the likes of Newcastle United and Crystal Palace are reportedly keeping tabs on Soule.
‘And we’re only at the start, the race for Soule has just begun,’ concluded the Italian outlet.
Aston Villa target Matias Soule also likened to Diego Maradona
Jacek Kulig of Football Talent Scout previously described the reported Villa target as a ‘Messi-esque’ talent who ‘can really produce magic’.
Meanwhile, Claudio Ranieri was quoted by Tuttomercatoweb as saying: “When you have champions like Soule who shoot like Maradona or Zico, you just have to applaud him.”
All in all, he looks like a good shout for Villa. Let’s see whether there are any developments in the coming months ahead of a big summer transfer window.
