Aston Villa having an interest in Emile Smith Rowe has been well documented this summer. And Dean Smith’s side remains adamant on the Arsenal youngster.

Despite having two bids rejected for the 20-year-old as reported by the Athletic, the Villains remain intent on signing the England youth star.

Indeed, even reports of a verbal agreement between Smith Rowe and Arsenal on a new contract as per Sky Sports News have not deterred Villa in their chase for the playmaker.

Villa are reportedly plotting a third offer for Smith Rowe as according to last weekend’s Sunday Mirror (04/06; p67). Yet it is likely this too will be turned down by Arsenal.

Aston Villa have been given a boost in Smith Rowe hunt

However, reports from Belgium could hand the Midlands club a boost in their chase for Smith Rowe. According to Voetbal24, Arsenal are now interested in R.S.C. Anderlecht prospect Yari Verschaeren.

The 19-year-old playmaker is one of the most highly-rated youngsters coming through in Belgium this year. With the teenager being compared to Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne as per Don Balon.

Indeed, the teenager has also been labelled as ‘the new Hazard’ as per Goal. To say Verschaeren is causing excitement would be an understatement. And if Arsenal follows through on the interest, it could play perfectly into Villa’s hands.

Arsenal ace might want Villa transfer

Signing a creative midfielder a year younger than Smith Rowe could turn the youngster’s head on how much Arsenal rate him.

And given how near-obsessive Villa seem on signing the playmaker, the 20-year-old could be tempted to make the switch to Villa Park.

Smith Rowe showed last season that he has the quality to be a star in the Premier League.

And if Arsenal make a move for a similar player who is younger than the England youth star, the 20-year-old could well see his future at Villa after all, who would be willing to offer the midfielder week-in week-out first-team football.
