Aston Villa fans were impressed by Jacob Ramsey on his senior debut against West Brom

Jacob Ramsey made his senior Aston Villa debut in the defeat to West Brom – and many of the club’s supporters were pleased with his first contribution at senior level.

It was another frustrating afternoon for Dean Smith’s side, as they were beaten 2-0 at home by their Midlands rivals.

They were undone by two late goals in the first-half for the visitors and never managed to recover.

Villa are 10th-placed in the Championship table as it stands and have a seven-point deficit to the play-offs to try close, but that could be stretched further when teams play their games in hand.

A selection of Villa fans were thrilled to see academy graduate Ramsey feature in the first-team for the first time.

Ramsey entered the action in the second-half in a difficult scenario, as his team was trailing in a derby and there was very little happening from his teammates.

The 17-year-old is an attacking midfielder that has impressed at youth level and has an eye for goal.

He was unable to show too much on his debut in difficult circumstances, but will hope he is now in line for more senior opportunities.
