Aston Villa face a daunting trip to Manchester City on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter want to see attacker Trezeguet recalled to the starting XI.
Dean Smith will take his side to the Etihad Stadium to face the reigning champions and will know they have to be at their absolute maximum to get a positive result.
The Midlands giants should go into the weekend’s fixture confident after some strong results recently, where they have won three and drawn one of their last four games across all competition.
They have scored 11 goals in that time to highlight their attacking qualities, but it’s their defence that is likely to get a thorough examination by Man City.
A selection of Villa supporters on social media believe that Trezeguet should come into the side at the weekend against the English champions and earn his first league start since 22 September against Arsenal.
Trezeguet is a speed machine that has shown glimpses of his quality so far in England, but has been left out of the starting XI in the last three consecutive league matches.
The Egypt international joined Villa in the summer for an initial £8.5million price (Sky Sports) and is yet to score in nine appearances so far.
He is a rapid winger that could be a threat to Man City on the counter attack and he made a bright cameo off the bench in last weekend’s victory against Brighton.
Here are some Villa fans on Trezeguet:
I think Trezeguet is made for games against the likes of Man City and Liverpool, would be harsh on El Ghazi as he’s been really decent for the most part but I’d start Trezeguet ahead of him on Saturday.

Yeah I’d go with that. Trez gets involved more than El Ghazi and Luiz against city makes sense

I would bring in Douglas Luiz and Trezeguet vs Man City #avfc

I would do this as well. Trez adds speed, el Ghazi is a bit hit and miss lately I feel. Feel bad for Conor but I think Douglas is better for this match. Bring him back once we get past the Liverpool game.

He looked good vs Arsenal and El Ghazi looked off it vs Brighton.
