Aston Villa host Liverpool on Tuesday night in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have claimed that Jonathan Kodjia should be promoted to the starting XI.
Villa go into the contest with the surprise tag of favourites, as they will be facing a Reds team managed by Under-23s coach Neil Critchley.
Liverpool’s first-team squad have travelled to Qatar to compete in the Club World Cup and it means they will have an inexperience group stacked with academy players lining up in the League Cup.
Dean Smith’s team have a great chance to reach a semi-final, but they go into the fixture in disappointing form.
Villa have lost three consecutive games in the Premier League and are sat above the relegation places on goal difference.
A selection of Villa supporters on social media have been discussing the potential team selection to face Liverpool and there are several who believe Kodjia should get a chance.
Kodjia has made just four senior appearances across all competitions this campaign and has remarkably not started a single one.
The 30-year-old centre-forward has not really made an impact when on the pitch and has been stuck behind teammate Wesley Moraes in the pecking order.
He featured in the previous League Cup round in the 2-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers and many want him to get a rare opportunity.
Here are some Villa fans on Kodjia:
I’m out tonight so will miss our game against the Liverpool U11 Colts.

My lineup for #AVFC tomorrow against Liverpool.
Give Kodjia some minutes, get him & Jota in closer to Wes. Conor to play advanced of the other 2 in the middle threading some balls to feet…

Tuesdays came against Liverpool is a great game to test out 442 imo, Wesley and kodjia up front.

Southampton’s back 4 aren’t great. Their 2 CBs are very poor. Kodjia will start against Liverpool. If I was him I would give absolutely everything in the cup game make it impossible for Deano to leave me out. He could do something in both games if he is at it.

This: a fired up Kodjia is a handful for any defence. We have to be more adventurous than that Bruce throwback show yesterday.

I hope we can do something against Liverpool 2nd team on Tuesday. Put Kodjia upfront instead of Wesley is needed. Wesley haven’t score since against Norwich and he need to be benched. Despite being a Villa fan, I don’t understand what give him the new 4 year deal 1/

Kodjia might be lazy but he knows where to go and where to stand when we have the ball. He might not have had much of an impact Saturday but he got them thinking with his movement. Hopefully starts and scores tomorrow.
